  2. Much of Who's Next derives from Lifehouse, an ambitious sci-fi rock opera Pete Townshend abandoned after suffering a nervous breakdown, caused in part from working on the sequel to Tommy. There's no discernable theme behind these songs, yet this album is stronger than Tommy, falling just behind Who Sell Out as the finest record the Who ever cut.
  3. Aug 20,  · Didn't know about this one. I have the reissue which was cut from hi-rez. Been on the lookout for a clean Decca pressing but all the copies I see are beat to hell. I'll find one eventually. For now I am good with my CD and LP. Not my favorite Who album either but it's grown on me.
  4. Who’s Next was released by Track Records in August ( ), and in the s as a CD (Polydor ) with a remixed and remastered CD (Polydor ) following in In a Deluxe Edition 2-CD set (Polydor ), was released. The original album was re-issued on heavyweight vinyl in (Polydor ).
  5. The Whos best album. I believe it to be better than "Tommy". Its success and historical import is even more impressive considering it was salvaged from the ill-fated conceptual "Lifehouse" project which was a work of sheer genius that was just too hard to digest in the late /early time frame. By Will-T (Lawrenceburg IN).
  6. A really good Who album and much better with the extra three tracks that come with the (Target Exclusive, CD) all fourteen songs are good. The bonus songs are not junk. 5 .
  7. Have collected so many versions of this album over the years (CD & vinyl) as it is one of my favourite albums. Even after 38 years I still enjoy hearing it, a true sign of a timeless, classic album. I still have my original vinyl copy from on the Track label (total g weight pressing)/5(K).
  8. Pete Townshend, Jimmy Page & Terry Cath, are to me in the top 5 best rock guitarist's but also in creativity. I can play songs written by all 3 but even my Wife will say that when she hears me start to play Won't Get Fooled Again, she knows that I'm not only really fired up but that I'm also able to play a bit sloppy & will constantly play cheat chords which Pete was always known to be able to.
